Eye Shadow Refill

Kjaer Weis powder eye shadows are 1.2 g pressed refills that click into the brand's refillable metal compact or the paper Red Edition. The texture is fine and silky, the pigment strong, and the colour builds from a sheer wash to full intensity. The finish carries a subtle pearl sheen and won't settle into the crease.

Ground bamboo lets the powder glide smoothly across the lid, while carnauba wax binds it. Honeysuckle and gardenia extracts and vitamin E acetate complete the formula. It is certified natural by CCPB, with around 70 percent of the raw materials organically grown. It misses an organic certification for one reason only: the bamboo grows in the wild rather than on supervised land.

The shades

Light: Cloud Nine is a pale champagne ivory with a delicate pearl finish that brightens the eye and works as a base under every other shade. Angelic is a light shade with rosy undertones; Charmed, a natural beige, suits almost every skin tone.

Browns, warm to cool: Grace is a light mocha with a semi-matte finish, Magnetic a brownish gold with a soft shimmer. Earthy Calm is the warm everyday brown of the range, Generosity its deeper, cool, greyish counterpart. Wisdom blends grey, brown and violet into a taupe that flatters a surprising range of eye colours.

Colour and depth: Amethyst shifts between taupe and lilac, Pretty Purple is a deep violet. Blue Wonder is a rich, intensely pigmented blue, Green Depth a true green flecked with gold, inspired by the racing green of classic sports cars. Onyx is the darkest: an iridescent slate, almost black.
